Microsoft Ignite 2024 is Live! There is so much news, information, and updates so it’s really hard to follow all of them and watch online sessions at the same time (or attend in Chicago). I selected the most interesting announcements and explored them a little bit. Let’s check out if this edition is only about AI.
Quick guide to Viva Pulse
Microsoft released Viva Pulse a few weeks ago as a public preview and now it’s globally available. It’s a tool to send targeted surveys to users and gather feedback. I played with it for a while and in this post, I will show you how to use it and get data from users.
How to connect Viva Goals with Jira
Using Viva Goals in an organization with a dedicated ticketing/tasks system could be tricky. Your employees will need to update tasks in one system and do check-ins with Viva Goals. Using the integration feature you can configure the ticketing/tasks system to automatically update Viva Goals. Employees will use their system and you will get data in Goals!
Quick guide to Viva Goals
Microsoft Viva Goals is now generally available. Viva Goals offers a lot of interesting features and integration with external systems, but in this post, I go through the basic setup and configuration. I will show you how to configure an organization and start working with objectives and key results.
Welcome Viva Engage
Microsoft announced a new member of the Viva suite – Viva Engage. It is a new place where you can build community, share knowledge, build internal networks, and engage with leadership. It will get a dedicated Teams application. Viva Engage is built on top of Yammer and will provide similar features and functionalities. But what about Yammer itself – will it be discontinued, rebranded, or changed?
Configure SharePoint as a content for Viva Learning
With Viva Learning you can enhance employees’ learning process. All learning resources become available directly through the Viva Learning app in Teams. Microsoft provides 3 data sources (LinkedIn Learning, Microsoft Learn, and Microsoft 365 Training). You can add 3rd party data sources (for example, Udemy, Pluralsight, edX) or use your existing learning files to create your learning data source. Viva Learning uses the SharePoint site as a data source for this purpose. Let’s go and configure it!
Festive Tech Calendar 2021 – Build good habits with Viva Insights
End of the year is coming. Many projects must be finished before the next year. Back-to-back meetings, multitasking, no time to rest from a job… I know, but the next year will be different… STOP! Bad habits never change if we do nothing. January won’t change it!
There is a tool in Microsoft Teams that can help you with the task. Microsoft Viva Insights. It is a tool that we can use to analyze our work behavior, find toxic patterns, and build good habits. Personal Insights are a personalized information and recommendation about your work. In this app you can plan your time, block time for focus time, analyze your mood, and much more.

Microsoft Ignite 2021 November – News summary
Microsoft Ignite 2021 Fall edition brought a lot of announcements across Microsoft 365. Microsoft is focusing on remote work and hybrid work scenarios. Teams, SharePoint, and other services are transforming to become ready for the new era of work. With a touch of Virtual Reality, our digital workplaces are going to change to something new, and I hope that it will be easier to use for everyone (not only for tech people).
How to configure Viva Learning
Viva Learning (free) is now available in Microsoft 365 and Teams. You can quickly configure it and enable it on your tenant. This version allows you to use Microsoft content in learning library. More updates are planned for upcoming weeks.
Let’s go and configure it!
How to configure Viva Connections Preview
Viva Connections brings us a dedicated app in Teams with our SharePoint Intranet. Microsoft released an upgraded app that provides easier installation together with desktop/mobile experience. The first version, which was released in March 2021, showed a desktop-only experience. Now we can take a look at the mobile side of the Viva Connections.
Let’s take a look at what’s inside the upgraded app:
- Microsoft app ready to use in Teams Store (no more PowerShell). We can also customize it in the Teams Admin Center.
- The app works with mobiles (with Dashboard, Feed, and Resources, more about that later)
- Dashboards that can be extended using SPFx or Adaptive Cards (YES!)
Keep in mind that it is still a Preview version. More features could be available when it’s released. Enable Preview in Teams!
